Over the course of the year we will work together using fitness and mindfulness to support our family’s grief. Parents will work with Brie, a Hummingbird Alumni who used fitness as a coping strategy through her grief. Each month she will have a workout circuit prepared for us and encourage new monthly targets, all with the end goal of a celebration in the spring. Any fitness level welcome!

At the same time, our kids will be learning about mindfulness, healthy expression of emotions and building their own strategies they can use in their grief journey.

This is a parent and child program, but if your kids don’t wish to attend, don’t let that stop you from coming. We do encourage your commitment to attend every month. Let’s have some fun strengthening our bodies and calming our family’s minds.

Fitness Trainer Brie Worgan
My name is Brie Worgan and I am a high school teacher and a certified personal trainer through CanFitPro. I am also a widow and a mother. On May 7, 2015, my husband died of colon cancer. We were both 33 years old and we had a 2 year old daughter named Grace. In the four years since he has passed away, I have found working out to be an incredible physical, mental and emotional outlet. It has come to be both my escape and my stress release. In July, 2018, I completed my personal training course and passed my last exam in December. My goal is to help others in the midst of grief see working out as a way to mange their grief and realize their own strength and power. I look forward to working with all of you to achieve this goal!
