Today we honor all the lives that have been affected by war. The men and women who have sacrificed their lives so that we can have peace.

We honor the men and women and children who grieve the loss of their loved one.

As I get older, I find I am more and more affected by November 11 with its tradition and ceremony. The day and its meaning have a greater impact on me as I hear more stories and see more families affected.  I don’t think I can truly comprehend the courage and strength these men and women have who defend our country and fight for our freedom. I just know that I am grateful for them and their bravery.

The recent tragic deaths of both Cpl Nathan Cirillo and Patrice Vincent have left me with a heaviness in my heart. My heart aches for their family and friends.

Today I wear my poppy proudly and hold all these families close to my heart.
